School Spotlight: Scripps College
There are over 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. And while the media tends to focus on just a handful of schools, we at College Coach encourage students to think outside the box during their college selection process and explore a wide range of colleges. As such, we are highlighting a new college each week in our School Spotlight series. Check out the college below, along with the other posts in our series, and you may just stumble upon your dream school!
School Spotlight: Scripps College
Claremont, CA
Ladies: if your idea of a perfect school includes (1) a small student body (but with access to thousands of courses and hundreds of campus events), (2) a challenging curriculum with plenty of options for interdisciplinary study, and (3) gorgeous weather with an even more beautiful campus, then look no further than Scripps College. Whether or not you’re currently considering a women’s college, perhaps the thriving, intimate, and collaborative campus environment at Scripps will change your mind. Through the Claremont Consortium (which includes Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, and Harvey Mudd), students can take classes (and even select a major) at any of the prestigious Claremont Colleges. In addition to being the only women’s college among the group, Scripps is also the only college that’s dedicated to interdisciplinary study, meaning that students have access to unique majors such as art conservation, environmental analysis, legal studies, and science & management. A major milestone of a Scripps education is completing the senior thesis, a requirement for all students regardless of their major. Located 35 miles east of Los Angeles, Scripps is a one-of-a-kind school that provides its nearly 1,000 students tremendous opportunities for personal and academic growth.
