Marina Zaretskiy has spent her entire career in higher education. After graduating from UC Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Law and Society, she took the unexpected step of applying and receiving a job in the financial aid office at ICDC College in Culver City, CA. While at ICDC College, she assisted students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and preparing financial aid award packages for students with institutional and federal assistance. After ICDC, Marina moved on to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where she was responsible for a caseload of 800+ students while also supervising the office manager and student workers. In addition, she was responsible for completing all state and federal reconciliations within the office. She assisted students in completing special circumstance appeals and performed financial aid package audits for each of her students to ensure accuracy in their institutional, merit-based, state and federal aid.
Despite the rising cost of tuition, there are still a handful of colleges out there that offer a four-year education at zero cost to students.
